Dear Ted:

Usually the best information is given out by the companies, assuming that the management is honest. They do care about lawsuits. Read the company annual reposts. There was one time when I received the annual report of a company and it didn't have 1 picture. (it is a huge co) I immediately sold the stock. I figured that if the president was going through such a personal crisis he had to put it in the co report I didn't want any part of it. The stock went from 35 to 13. So you want to know the name of the co? Its not Intel, its AMD and not 1 picture. That's the opposite of a Kodak moment.

Another quick source is to go to Edgar and pull up the companies latest filings.

Beware if the company has an article written about it in Business Week they have the kiss of death, or life if the company is almost dead. Also the WSJ and Barrons (both owned by Dow Jones can kill an industry or a company. Dow Jones single handedly killed the biotechs back in 92.

Remember the pen is mightier than the sword.
