Jim,

Asus SP97-V motherboard:
asus.com.tw

The menu could be read or downloaded from:
asus.com.tw

The on-line menu is so good that I encourage you spend some time to experience it.

Asus SP97-V is a very nicely build motherboard. It is as good as Asus T2P4 if not better. The video chip (SIS5597) is build-in with SIS5598 using UMA which slow down the memory speed by almost 1/3. For 6x86 or M2, it is not so bad due to the ultra-fast memory of these two CPUs. For Intel P54C or MMX, it is a disaster.

You could simple insert a PCI video card, the on-board video chip will be automatically disabled. It is a good feature. Of course, the memory speed will be fully restored once the video card is inserted.

The BIOS, video drivers and IDE came with the accompanied CD. Very convenient to deal with.

The jumper set up for the undocumented 83Mhz is as follows:

FS0 2-3
FS1 1-2
FS2 1-2

PCI speed could be selected as sync or Async on FS3.

Its 83Mhz bus speed is very stable. The board is quite friendly towards the 60ns RAM even clocked at 83Mhz bus speed. It could cashe over 64MB. I have tested with 80MB (32x2+8x2) and experienced no slow down with Winstone97 or any benchmark. SP97-V is quite overclock friendly too.

Its Winstone97 business is not as fast as PC-Chip Txpro. It could be contributed from the better IDE master driver from Ali.

For $85, this is a great board to buy.
