Keep in mind that Juan Williams is a dyed in the wool leftist.

Blackout on Juan Williams

Betsy's Page

Ever since I heard Juan Williams talk about his book that just came out this week, I've been looking for reviews in the major media about his book, "Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-End Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America--and What We Can Do About It" and I haven't been able to find any. The only references I've found are on conservative outlets such as Bill O'Reilly or Newmax. Apparently, the MSM has closed its doors to one of their own, an NPR correspondent, for gosh sake! Williams told Michael Reagan about the freeze out he's facing.

<<< On my radio show the other night Juan told me how he has been silenced by the very liberals who have always clasped him to their bosoms.
When I asked him if he’s been put on the "back burner" he said: “It’s not the back burner, but the burner itself that has disappeared. You just don’t get covered when you try to talk about what I consider to be central issues in terms of not just black America but all America. It’s part of American history, it’s part of the reality of the way we live, especially with increasing numbers of minorities in the American population, racial politics, drop-outs in schools, the fact that people talk about what’s going on with jails and all that.

“People just don’t want to talk about why we are in a grievous situation even now in the 21st century with regard to race and the kind of leadership we have on race.” >>>

This is such a shame and I sure hope that the media changes its policy and invites him on to talk about his book and that it gets fair reviews in the written media. I just finished his book and highly recommend it as an honest appraisal of problems facing the black community today and recommendations for using the qualities of self reliance that leaders such from Frederick Douglass to Martin Luther King used to emphasize to address those problems. Yes, he knocks self-annointed spokesmen such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and criticizes the NAACP today for preferring race mongering to honest messages. But the media should love such controversy. They love it when a conservative knocks Bush or the Congressional leadership. Being a maverick is great, apparently, except when you're knocking those whom the media has enshrined as the spokesmen for all blacks.
