Drive out the Bush Regime

Betsy's Page

Ed Lasky of the American Thinker links to this full page ad in the New York Times by some group called The World Can't Wait advertising a day worldwide resistance to the "Bush Regime" on October 5. The title of the ad is "Drive Out the Bush Regime." There are the usual complaints about the war in Iraq, Katrina and the theocracy that Bush is supposedly imposing on the country. Some excerpts:

<<< “Drive out the Bush Regime” is the headline.

Government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian Fundamentalism will rule.

People look at this and think of Hitler-and they are right to do so. The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come. >>>

Somehow, in an ill-defined manner, they are proposing such a massive outpouring that the Bush Regime will be driven from office. Whatever.

As Lasky points out, the names signed on to this ad are the usual suspects from Edward Asner to Howard Zinn; however, the list does include five congressmen and women.
>>>

<<< US Represenative Cynthia McKinney

US Represenative Major Owens

US Represenative Bobby Rush

US Represeative Maxine Waters

US represeanitive John Conyers Jr. >>>

Don't these people read the Constitution? There is one way to "drive out" a president. Impeachment and conviction.

Earlier this year, Conyers denied that he was out to seek impeachment of Bush if the Democrats should regain control of the House of Representatives. He realized that the GOP were using such a scenario as scare tactics to impel Republicans to vote this election season.

So if Conyers denies that he is going to seek impeachment yet he is signing on to a movement to "Drive Out the Bush Regime," does he have some other ideas of an extraconstituional means of getting Bush out of office?
