Thank goodness it wasn't private pay. I don't know how people afford hospital stays without insurance. I'm fortunate to have good benefits through my company. What amazed me was the additional expenses that I saw being incurred just for safety procedures for the nurses as compared to my last hospital stay(many years ago).
