calypso:

I agree with your assessment. Anyone can join consortium and no one HAS to use JAWZ security products to join. The good news, imo, in this deal are as follows:

Instant credibility - JAWZ is a FOUNDING member of the consortium. Apparently, since the consortium is offering a special license for JAWZ product to its members, these members feel confident enough in this product to endorse it. Would think PD would be happy with JAWZ by now ;o)

The License Deal - Marketing and selling of these licenses should be relatively easy since JAWZ will be helping to develop the security protocols for the ASP industry. Who would YOU go to for your security needs?

Spinoff Alliances - No better way to get to know your new and future clients than through executive sessions on these consortium boards. JAWZ will definitely have a leg up on other security companies trying to break into the ASP field.

I applaud JAWZ for thinking ahead and executing a progressive plan. IMO, these sorts of alliance or consortium deals are THE WAY to build a very successful company for the long term.

FWIW,

Eric
