Keep the term "marriage" like is. Give the Gays all the rights to protect their relationships and belongings up to par with married couples.

I agree with the above, but I think the parties that are opposed to "gay marriage" have more in mind than just the word "marriage". I don't actually have a strong view on it either way, but I'm trying to understand what people mean when they say they support gay civil unions but not gay marriage. I think they are the same thing (other than the vocabulary), and if so I don't see what all the fuss is about.
