Nematron's New, Flexible Hardware Platform Features Options
That Replace its Existing Mix of Rack Mount and Bench Top PCs.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Nematron Corporation
(Nasdaq: NEMA) announced today one of the latest additions to its industrial
product offerings -- the FlexBox(TM) Industrial PC. The FlexBox can be
configured for either rack mount or bench top systems and like all Nematron
hardware, is ruggedly constructed and built to thrive in the harshest plant
floor conditions. Based on Intel's Pentium and Pentium Pro processors, the
FlexBox is capable of delivering even higher performance and computing power
than previously available rack mount and bench top units. One of the
significant features of the FlexBox is its dual Intel Pentium Pro symmetric
multi-processing (SMP) option for industrial server applications. Dual
processor servers are typically used in applications where high performance
database functions are required for collecting and processing large amounts of
data from the factory floor.
Additionally, Nematron's FlexBox is one of the first industrial computer
solutions available to utilize Iomega's high capacity removable mass storage
(RMS) devices; the FlexBox is available with either Zip(TM) or Jaz(TM) drives.
These Iomega disk drives provide storage, security and transportability
solutions for mission-critical applications on the factory floor. The
portable Zip drive accommodates 100 MB disks that allow for simple
organization and fast, easy backup. The Jaz drive accommodates 1 GB
cartridges and affords faster performance than most hard drives, with
10-12 millisecond average seek times.
The FlexBox offers several options that replace Nematron's existing mix of
rack and bench industrial PCs. Such features include an integrated CD-ROM,
removable hard drive for easy replacement, and hard drive capacities of up to
4.0 GB are available. Options include:
* Choice of Pentium 100 MHz standard; 133, 166, 200 MHz, or 200 MHz
Pentium Pro processors
* SMP Dual Pentium Pro processors
* Iomega Zip Drive (100 MB media) and Iomega Jaz Drive (1 GB media)
* 16 MB RAM (expandable to 128 MB)
* 256 KB cache standard
* PCI video adapter card
* Two serial ports and one parallel port in rear
* Four ISA slots, three PCI slots, and one combined slot for PCI or
ISA cards

Nematron will introduce its new FlexBox at the 1997 SAE International
Automotive Manufacturing Conference and Exposition (IAM) at Cobo Center in
Detroit, Michigan, May 13-15.
Nematron designs and manufactures PC-based industrial automation products
that include software for direct machine control, process visualization, and
data acquisition. In addition, the Company produces related hardware products
that leverage or support its software. Nematron products cover a broad
spectrum from low-cost operator interface to Windows NT control software,
including OpenControl(TM) Paragon(TM), PowerVIEW(TM), AutoNet(TM) and
FloPro(R). Nematron pioneered the operator interface segment of factory
automation in 1983 with the introduction of the Industrial Workstation(TM).
