I don't think Gibson made money off Jesus. If Jesus had actually played the role of Himself, it would be a different story.

But Jesus wasn't involved in the production, so what Gibson made money off of was a movie, one that he worked for years to get made.

Would you say that "The Ten Commandments" made money off of Moses?
