Is it really true that Jesus preached that poverty was a good thing? I think that's been corrupted throughout the years.

I don't see why Christ would think that not having enough was a good thing. Why would starvation or cold or fear be part of a worthwhile religious ethic?

I can see someone preaching that the poor did not have a lower value because of poverty but I can't see how preaching poverty as a good thing would make any sense to anyone. I think these things have been corrupted throughout the years until they don't really make any sense.

Greed, theft, hoarding, these are bad things but the accumulation of wealth through offering good products and services to people isn't a bad thing. I don't think it was a bad thing in Jesus' time either. It goes awry when people use the power of government, say, to codify theft or when they lie and cheat others to accumulate more than they're worth.

Something's gone seriously awry with religion in general and I think we should do a general REBOOT. I really find it impossible to believe that most people are happy with the religions that are on offer.
