This whole thing is so full of contradictions it's amusing. From the Hezbollah guru as per your article:

"Freedom means that we decide for ourselves the best way to address what we see today as clear intervention of the United States and France in Lebanese internal affairs," Nasrallah said during a news conference in the Shiite suburbs of south Beirut. "The opposition must give us explanations regarding the foreign intervention. We must convince each other that only true sovereignty means independence."

He wants the Syrian troops to remain in Lebanon in order to have Lebanese independence. Uhmmmm, OK.

When has ME logic been well logical? That's why all this grand talk of democracy and the domino effect and the beginning of a new era seems suspect. Its not like the concept of democracy is new to the ME. They've been tossing the concept around for decades now.

It reminds me of the US saying all Syrian troops must leave Lebanon immediately (regardless of the potential ensuing insecurity that might follow a pullout), but US troops cannot leave Iraq immediately (because of the potential insecurity that might follow a pullout).

Why is Iraqi security more important than Lebanese security?

If only I had the answers, I would post them.

Maybe its because we have our own illogic. Whatever makes your case I guess.
