Ali, Ok let me in my simple way explain why your complaint is groundless.

Intel has a virtual monopoly on microprossesors for one reason and one reason only. Execution of a business plan, and Vision with a capital "V".

15 years ago when Intel was hardly on anyone's radar screen, they were in a cutthroat competitive environment fighting for there very existence. IBM, MOT, DEC, or anyone else could have taken this market the same way Intel has. They just were not smart enough! They didn't have the vision and they didn't take the risks! In 1990 when Intel decided to spend nearly 3 billion dollars on microprossesor plants. They risked nearly the whole company on there belief in the growth and continued growth of the PC. Noone else had the guts!

Now you can sit back and and say all this is so evil. Well I ask you what would you replace it with? Should we settle for mediocrity in an effort to ensure equality of outcome. Please give me a break! Maybe Intel should go on a sales push to sell the K6 to major OEM's!

If not for Intel and Microsoft, chances are, PC's would only be in the hands of the worlds ellitest people. Instead we see them poliferating around the world at spectacular rates of growth. Soon nearly everyone in America will have a home PC. Is that such a bad thing?

I wonder what the cost of a computer would be if Apple and DEC controlled the operating system and Microprossesor?

Intel and Microsoft will continue to dominate the market as long as they continue to execute there business plan and continue to have the vision to see the changing future. That's how IBM and Honywell blew it! No vision, no execution.

The future is not carved in stone.

Michael
