Michael,

One of the best, most factual posts I have read in a long time. It was Intel who had vision and took risk. IBM had no vision. If they would have had vision, all that INTC and MSFT enjoy today would be their's. The anti-Intel mongers act as if Intel just lucked into their good fortune. Oh well, there will always be those who are envious and jealous of other people's success.

BTW, if Apple and DEC controlled things we would all be paying $5000-$10000 for PC's instead of $1000-$3500.

<Intel has a virtual monopoly on microprossesors for one reason and one reason only. Execution of a business plan, and Vision with a capital "V".>

And they have been able to maintain this status, in part, because AMD and Cyrix while having decent products have had terribe marketing, no focus, and zero leadership (i.e. weak management). AMD and Cyrix would do much better if they understood that they are competing against each other not against Intel.
