Some folks have taken hydrocarbon polymers and moved the hydrogen from one side to another of the polymer backbone. This is fundamentally using a proton as a "bit". The work was years back, don't remember where.

PS-I hope to retire on the DUV food chain investments first! I believe 157nm will be used for 70 nm features. EUV will replace xray as the technology of the future (...and it always will be ?)
