Yes, that would have been a good play. I was going to short EGGS a while back, but I rarely let my profits run and would have covered long ago.

Probably one of the age old hedging strategies would be best;
Go Long on PROG and short a competitor. That way, you usually eliminate any "market" influences on price and rely truly on the performance of the company against it competitors.

All in all, going long was wrong; the market told us the company was headed south, and I hope for a turnaround.

Darn, I used that word "hope" again.
