>>like to catch falling knives<< Not really, John. I only grab them if I am already juggling with them. MCIC situation looks interesting with such big reaction. Sure looks overdone, but, alas....not one I follow.
>Off Topic< I have enjoyed reading the histories on many interesting situations. Cam-Net (promoted as the next 'MCI' of Canada NOT - Now delisted, 2 CEO's charge with insider trading and/or securities fraud), PLC Systems Laser Cardio-revascularization expected to get FDA approval NOT (Aug 97), SyQuest merger rumors (May 96), Acrodyne (Advanced DTV transmitters - now burrowing into below sea level), etc. What I find fascinating are the posts which sound so similar to "normal threads" (hope springs eternal with great rationalizations). Some posts leave me ROFL even though I keep telling myself "how sad" knowing the tragic outcomes.
You reminded me of one such post on Cam-Net ~Oct 22, 96 where the CEO had been arrested for fraud (bribing brokers/analysts to promote stock sales with 20% kickbacks). His successor had been charged with insider trading. Trading in the stock had been suspended. One "investor" stated although things looked bad, it could be a good buying opportunity if trading was resumed. Amazingly, it was resumed for a few hours due to human error and 500,000 shares were traded before it ceased forever. The poster, trumpeted the fact that trading was taking place and he was not selling...
Someone should create a special thread to give some of these a proper burial, but many of the original posters no longer post to SI. |
