Why would Columbia put up with all the BS from the likes of such idiots as B. O'Reilly to keep an untenured professor who would appear on the surface at least to be a biased individual and poor educator?

Why?

1 - Their particular view of academic freedom.

2 - They don't like people like Bill O'Reilly.

3 - Often either the administration of the school, or a group with intra-school political power, or some outside group with influence supports the professor.

It is true that in most cases when something like this happens the professor is tenured.

That's because it was the Israelis. Had it been about the Iranians I suspect your response would be a bit different.

Not even slightly different. The Iranians can come here and make documentaries if they want. If people don't like their opinion they can respond with anything from silence, to respectful measured disagreement, to telling the filmmakers to go to hell. I don't see any reason to ban foreign makers of documentaries from filming in the US.

No.....what they are doing is stirring up the kettle, producing what is most likely a very biased video in their favor and making the most of it.

If you don't like what they say the answer is to respond to it and criticize it, but not their right to say it or to make the film. Its better to have more speech, and include the other side, then it is to shut some people up.

In fact, without any forethought, you automatically hold the Israelis in a higher position and are willing to defend their interference and influence in the operations of our academic institutions.

The fact that it was Israelis has little to do with my opinion. If it was Michael Moore, Al Jazeera, or reporters for Il Manifesto and my opinion of their right to do the report would be the same. I might disagree with the content but I wouldn't try to exclude or censor them.

Did you feel the same way when they stole state secrets re. nukes?

You do recognize the difference between producing a documentary and stealing nuclear secrets right??
