Hi Brad: >RE So, you get that and unlimited internet access for $19.95., well thats what they promised...but gave 90% of the usres BUSY signels..and the ones lucky enough to get on still, have not got unlimeted access..they are running bots..now to kick users off in 45 min in most areas..and thats not unlimeted.. also..you can't run the browser on AOL..that I run on a regular ISP..you can't even run a 32 bit anything..they are still 16 bit..put up a home page of your own and play me some music, and give me the address..all that comes with a regular 14.95 ISP, or even a $9.95 one, with most of the PC clubs..you ever heard of HAL..just because they don't advertise..don't mean they are not big..they don't have to advertice..the bargins are that good, and you get in with real computer people too..people that build their own sets, swap parts..and teach others how.. Here hal-pc.org go visit 11,000 users in Houston bet AOL don't have that many in Houston..do you know how many FREE..dial in ISPs are in FLA..do a serch on Yahoo..won't be long FREE ISDN service will be in your local Library...were will AOL go then even the local high schol is etting ready to put in internet..not x2 stuff either , but pure out ISDN hook ups..kids can down load, using one of the push programs..and take it all home on a dsk, more stuff in 5 minutes than you can get in an hour over a modem..it's all changing..AOL is to the internet what the old comadore 64 was to the computer business..don't laugh the comadore had it's day, I spent many hours on it, and still remember the 300 baud modems..and how we went whooo..1200 baud..fantastic, Bill GATES FAMOS FOR HIS QUOTE, "NO BODY WILL EVER NEED MORE THAN 640 K MEMORY"....well AOL..will be history just like so much else has become history..an Internet..hook up will be come a perk..just to get your long distant business..thats the way it's going...and no hype will alter it. Local comunity collages all over the country now, furnish ISP hook ups, most give you home page space..and seldom is it over 15 a month..try to count thoes numbers..it will make the 8m look like small patatoes..AOL does not have local dial in at all in most small cities..none here..and we have 100,000 population, and 5 local ISPs, plus the collage, were does any body get the Idea AOL is so big..they are not even a pimple on the rear end of the internet scean..it's all hype.. jim |
