There were 500,000 people at the demonstration. You think they threatened all of them? If so, you need to have your water tested.

1 - Estimates of demonstrations in the US are highly uncertain. I think it may be more so in Lebanon.

Compared to the Lebanese opposition demonstrations, Hezbollah's was huge. It very much gave the impression that most people were behind Hezbollah whether it was a lie or not.

As for the actual numbers, you can go argue with the Lebanese police or whomever gave out the figure.

2 - You can threaten huge numbers of people. The threat doesn't have to be specific or one on one. It just has to be a general feeling, often not directly communicated, that you would be better off if you go along. Many might not even think about it much, it just becomes what you do.

3 - Some of them may have been threatened, others probably do support Hezbollah. Some of them or even a lot of them may have been Syrians.

What you all do not want to look at is that Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad etc. do a lot of good for their people. That's why they are so popular. You keep ignoring the fact that they are more than just terrorists.

How can you have effective policy in the ME if you don't understand the culture?

What a stupid question.........of course.......we don't have an effective policy because the yahoos that are running this country don't have a clue about the culture.
