Burt...you're investment strategy in my opinion is sound. When I got my father into investing...I knew that he would never sell. So in chosing stocks for his portfolio I had to pick basically blue chips in their corresponding industry. Basically I don't want him to get spooked during a market downturn and not sleep well at night because he simply won't take a profit.

The hard part is...I don't want Coca Cola, Phillip Morris, or Proctor and Gamble...I wanted to have an above average return to make up for his retirement fund which basically was non-existent until I took interest in his welfare.

Then I researched that SH$^ out of those companies that I eventually picked and watched them for about 1 month before actually purchasing them. Take a look at profile and tell me you wouldn't buy those stocks. All of them were purchased at significant dips...
