unclewest;

As a 3 star he did not sit at the big table

You are now saying because he was a three star general - even though he was in charge of the Iraq operation, that his thinking and suggestions to Bush didn't count? Didn't count when Bush told the American public he would do whatever the generals in the field ask?

Sounds to me like we have another general who did not have the moral courage to state his true beliefs before taking American Soldiers to war

The nature of soldiers is to do what they are told to do - period! If they didn't we have soldiers refusing to go into battle if they disagree with their commander.

If you want a President to blame, look at Clinton. His 8 years of draconian cuts of 34-38% in military strength (depending on the service) left us unprepared for war

Hogwash! We spend as much as the rest of the world combined on our military. To suggest we didn't spend enough is complete nonsense. More and more and more money, doesn't make a military better - it just makes it bigger. Your thinking will bankrupt America. If you want a bigger military - then at least have the honesty to come to the American public and say we have to raise your taxes to pay for a bigger military.
