The irritating thing about Divx is that studios had the opportunity to affect the standards by requesting better encryption or a different DVD format that would allow greater compatibility between DVD and Divx. The CSS encryption fight was resolved only last year. Leave it to a bunch of paranoid lawyers to play on Hollywood's fears and come up with a Divx monkey wrench that reflects the "billable hour" mold of most law firms.
