Ice. When I say a fax has no provenance, I mean there is no way to prove the actual originator of the fax. Anyone with a computer can manufacture a memo, even put a letterhead on it, and fax it. Even the name and phone number that appear on the border of the received fax can be controlled by the sender. So whether the content is true or false, whether the purported originator actually at some time or place said or wrote the same words that appear in the fax, there is no way to know if the purported originator is the actual originator. Email is harder to fake, but it still can be. Even voice mail is not hard to fake, what with audio splicing capability standard in computers these days. In fact, thanks to computers, you can't even trust an unretouched photo now. Just manipulate it onscreen, press the print button, and a perfect original appears, ready to start a new hoax with. Wouldn't it be ironic if some day Joel took a picture with his new n-hand equipped digital camera, manipulated it on his computer, then used the final product to start his latest anti-IOM hoax?

Joel is laughing at us over this, and this time it is not his usual forced, nervous, I'm-short-IOM laugh.

So I have a suggestion to all on this thread. The next time Joel spreads one of his nasty rumors, we don't try to disprove it. We simply say to him, "We won't do your dirty work any more. It's your rumor. It's up to you to prove it. And extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof." Leave it at that. Joel has proven to my satisfaction that he does not have an honest bone in his body. He is an unprincipled man, out to make a buck as ruthlessly as it takes. I'd rather have 100 bears who were honorable people on this thread than him. It's too much work refuting his lies. He can pump them out faster than 10 men can refute them.
