This thread: A newcomer's observations

I am new to this thread and although I am not a techie and do not really understand a lot of things discussed here, I must confess to being somewhat mesmerized by it, largely due to Prof. Benn but also due to many others. Even Mark Brophy's arguments, although mostly refuted on this thread, have elicited detailed and thoughtful responses, not to mention the one from WIND's founder himself. For that at least, he is to be thanked. You are all to be congratulated in consistently maintaining a very high quality, the best that I have seen at SI.

I have two suggestions for the future of this thread.

1. As investors in this company, it is to our advantage to attract a greater number of potential investors to this thread. WIND's products and services are difficult for a lay person to understand. I am surprised by the extent of ignorance about WIND that is still there even among those in the computer field. This thread contains a lot of information that is very useful in understanding WIND. However it is difficult and time-consuming to go through each one of the messages and make a decision as to which ones need to be read - this decision being all the more difficult for a newcomer. Would it not be nice if someone who is familiar with the thread, understands most of it, and who had the know-how could organize an index of some sort, which could be sorted by major topics such as: WIND's products and services, earnings estimates, long-term price projections, is MSFT a threat?, investment 101, etc. The next step would then be to maintain a newcomer's guide, which would essentially be a "must read" list of (and links to) messages on the thread.

2. This thread is fortunate in having a relatively minimal amount of messages that have no value or have some obviously self-serving intentions, which seem to be so abundant in other threads. What I mean are the following type of messages:

"I bought --- shares at ----." - who cares?

"I have a cousin who works at H&Q and he has heard this confidential rumor." sure, tell us more!

As more investors are attracted to this thread, it is going to be more difficult to maintain the high quality. We should all give serious thought as to how to weed out unwanted and irrelevant material from the thread.
