As a matter of fact, I did work as a waitress back in the 1960s when a good two-thirds of the population smoked. It was a little hole in the wall place. I made minimum wage for the time. However, I had fun at that job and the tips were excellent. In fact, most work days, I cleaned up pretty good when I tallied the tips. And, no, I never, ever pinched the customers. You didn't really do that either, did you? <vbg>

Later in the 1960s and early 1970s, two of my chums were putting themselves through college by working as Bunnies at the local Playboy Club. They were making fantastic money and loving every minute of it. They didn't pinch the customers either.
