Of course it will. If you have something that is truly worth paying for then people will pay for it. Magazines have proven this for well over a century, and newspapers far longer than that. People will pay for content that interests them and advertisers will pay to be able to reach targeted audiences. In this regard, the net is just a vastly more efficient information distribution mechanism. The implementation changes when moving from a static to an interactive medium, but the same principles hold.

Introductory rates, free trials, teasers, etc. are tried and proven marketing techniques which of course will find analogs on the net. I've no doubt before long we'll see Publisher's Clearing House hawking web site subscriptions too.
