don, one should subtract maintenance costs from fair market rental value.

also, we need to understand that a home can't just double in size like a corporation - homes can't go after market share and they develop new markets. therefore, the pe should be lower than companies b/c there's less opportunity to grow your money.

the pe on my home is about 20. that doesn't sound high for a corporation, but it is high for a home. my guess is that it was about 13 five years ago.
