David,
I like the way you think. You show me my remark about educated parrots does not apply to you.
Darrin, if you don't believe in original sin, you don't believe part of the Bible, and you disagree with King David and God.. Here are several translations. "For I was born a sinner-- yes, from the moment my mother conceived me." (Psa 51:5 NLT) "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (Psa 51:5 NIV) "Behold, I was shapen[1] in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive[2] me." (Psa 51:5 KJV) "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me." (Psa 51:5 NKJV) "Indeed, I was born guilty, a sinner when my mother conceived me." (Psa 51:5 NRSV) "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me." (Psa 51:5 NASB)"
I still stand by my original idea:
'The Bible says that Jesus himself was born after Adam and Eve, and he was without sin. This was a correction of a previous misunderstanding.'
Because, to believe that we were conceived by our mother is merely to refer to our belief in the body. That all of us were created by our mothers, and not directly of God. If we were created directly from God, our mothers were created directly from God, and the chain remains unbroken. In this way, we are all created directly from God. The belief that birth is a creation of ours 'separate' from God is the misunderstanding. To believe that birth is a creation of ours in conjunction with God, is the correction. It was believing in the body as separate from God that was the mistake of Adam and Eve, and it is not the belief that a mother conceived us, but the lack of mention that God did in conjunction that is significant.
This is a major difference. Our subsequent belief can change the nature of our birth. We are born sinless. Subsequently, we develop beliefs that distort the true nature of our beginninng. In remembering God, we restore the original perfection we never lost, but only believed we did.
We are all born of God, and since God is all, he made us with the only stuff on hand, Himself. Rebirth is the remembering of this. Those who see an antichrist everywhere have forgotten, and only believe that they have woken up and remembered.
Yes, I do believe in a concept of rebirth as you do, but I believe it is to restore perfection, and not to create it. The difference to me is whether we are in a world of christs and antichrists, or are all brothers working to help each other wake up and remember where we came from.
Thanks for your thoughts.
