RE:M$ hype has failed. Our 'hype' hasn't.
Also, I'm not 'arrogant'. I'm just 'highly confidant'. <g>

You certainly sound arrogant to me. I have made a lot of money in DELL but I am certainly not connected with DELL in any other way. Do you work for Sun?

I agree SUNW hype is still working but that could come to a quick end at anytime. That is why I am moving to protect my gains in this stock.

I invest in companies to make money. You seem to believe that reinventing the wheel makes one superior.

SUNW did not invent UNIX or RISC architecture, SUNW does design it's RISC chipsets. They had a lot of help from Xerox on the SuperSparc Dynabus chipset. But then this is not rocket science anymore. SUNW really does not do much research at all. SUNW does engineering product development.

SUNW puts together its own boxes like DELL. Except they do not do it as well or efficiently. I believe that SUNW still designs its own motherboards but then lots of companies do this now. I guess that makes SUNW a screwdriver company as well.<g>

SUNW repackages disk drives from Seagate, etc. marks them up and resells as part of its systems. This is a screwdriver operation. Just like DELL.

Eventually, IMO SUNW will be forced to adopt the INTC chips.
Then they will be making INTC boxes and putting Solaris on them. SUNW has no semiconductor fab and must purchase those
resources from TI and other semiconductor companies.

So, what really is the core technology of SUNW. It is really its servers. It has been doing well because of the growth of the internet. Its servers are based on its Sparc microprocessor designs. But this is essentially a proprietary technology with no long term advantage.
Open systems and standardization are the way to go now.

So what is unique at SUNW is available in other forms elsewhere. It was fortunate for SUNW that INTC dropped the ball on MERCED.
