I guess because IBM didn't snap up Microsoft in their early day-s it meant that MSFT wouldn't amount to much of anything. Geez, I remember when Agouron Pharm was languishing below $12 and I used to say, "why doesn't Merck just buy them out for $15 or $17 a share? It's a steal." Of course, it never happened.
