You characterized my note, which was merely a correction of a factual error, with a moronic statement. This is what offended me.

Aside: It's not invalid to *compare* two dissimilar things, it's only invalid to draw conclusions based on that comparison which imply that the two dissimilar things ought to exhibit the same behavior. I don't see where I've done this.

Also: Would you be happy if SAP underperformed the S&P 500 just as long as it outperformed Peoplesoft? Over the long-term the S&P 500 is a very VALID measure of the opportunity cost of investing in individual stocks instead of the broad market. It's not a particularly useful measure over the course of a single day (which is what I think you've been getting at), but I never said it was.
