First, I never would'a thought about that my own self. I'm fading, but have paid some attention to way smarter folks.
WRT American Natives being not dumb and masters of their environment: years ago I was friends with a couple Eskimo brothers who shucked formal education during the second grade. They could discourse for hours upon hours about how to hunt brant, geese, ducks, seal, walrus, berries, and more under differing wind, temperature, ice, seasonal, and time of day conditions.
They had more knowledge about their specific concerns than most PHD's have about theirs. I 'spect they had no more understanding of their brilliance than the gusuks they then lived amongst. |
