Yes, if the Republicans came out and confessed that they are just "regular guys" like the rest of America, they need not resign! Of course, this means they will lose the stick with which they would try to beat their opponents, but hey, at least they get to keep their jobs! But I don't think they would. And I don't think they can! For, hypocrisy has seeped just way too deep into their systems...
