Lots of Luck

Power Line

Reuters reports on President Bush's series of speeches on Iraq. The headline: "Bush launches new campaign to defend Iraq war." The first paragraph:

<<< For the third time in less than a year and two months before crucial U.S. elections, President George W. Bush is launching a new campaign to counter opposition to the Iraq war with a series of speeches he insists are not political. >>>

No mystery about how we're supposed to view the President's speeches. Nothing to see here, move on. Then there's this:

<<< Laying the groundwork for the administration's new push on Iraq, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Tuesday compared war critics to those who argued for appeasing the Nazis during World War Two. Rumsfeld made the controversial comments at the same American Legion venue where Bush is to speak on Thursday. >>>

We've often made that analogy, but Rumsfeld didn't. It's all in a day's work at Reuters.
