Hi, all ... I'm doing my weekly catchup on the activities here. I see the negativity has toned down. Good. I also now understand where the comment about book authorship originated on another thread.
Is anybody here planning on downloading the Y2K software on 5/20? If so, please let us know how it works. I'm still interested in seeing exactly what it does and how accurate it is, but now it's purely curiosity. If it does what I think it does, then it won't be enough to earn any of my investing funds.
To be truely useful, the product would have to identify the end user exposure to Y2K (meaning their user created spreadsheets, databases, etc.). My understanding is that this Y2K product identifies the Y2K deficient software products that are installed. Useful, yes. But, not enough. The user created spreadsheets are equivalent to the source code of programs. If there is a Y2K bug in there, then upgrading the spreadsheet product (Excel, Lotus 123, etc) to be Y2K compliant won't fix it. The actual "source code" of the spreadsheet must be corrected as well.
Wishing everbody well,
