>>It is the antagonistic and mocking tones that get the reaction.<<

to exaggerate only slightly, every other post on si is just like this - except the bears are the goats 98% of the time.

however, the bulls (in gen'l, not everyone) don't care about the mocking unless it is the 2%. ho ho ho, that's being unbiased. ;-)

>>A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down".<<

absolutely. btw, i agree with you. honey catches more whatever than vinegar. my only point is that bulls don't get upset with bating UNLESS it uis them that gets baited.

i'd argue they don't mind the baiting, per se. they mind being baited. BIG difference. while not supporting the back and forth battles, i have been drawn into it on occasion and don't feel the least bit bad as the folks i'm arguing with are obnoxious.

one tactic i use is to be just like them after they have been them for a while. the funny thing is that others get mad at me for being like their fellow bulls - obnoxious. in fact, they like obnoxious as long as they dish it out. they just just don't like being served obnoxious.

which is fine, but they ought not take the high road or they are exposed as disingenuine (sp?) - consciously or not...
