KT, I have no problem with the second bomb - our boys were dying every day the war dragged on. The Japanese treatment of our POWs was enough for me to want to nuke them. They shot our medics and attacked hospitals. F' em. The Japanese whine about the bomb - I say what about the Rape of Nan King , Unit 731 , the Bataan Death March . The cost of invading the mainland would have been enormous. Some people think soldiers are more expendable than civilians - I don't. These guys graduated high school and went to war - I know of a few who quit before high school graduation to enlist. All of us should think about what we did after graduating high school ( I had a care free summer) and what these guys faced. Sixty years later its easy to forget the rage of the American public and the sacrifices made at home and on the front. It would not have been right to prolong the war out of compassion for the ENEMY . mike
