As I have said before, PLAT is a major competitor. If you think RATL has had heartburn from digesting companies, you wouldn't believe the challenges PLAT has. The data warehousing piece is interesting, but recent acq. of LBMSY and LGWX are pretty important as far as RATL is concerned. I really thought RATL would acquire LGWX about six months ago. Atleast in a traditional development perspective, it would have filled a hole in the broad package. The DB modeling piece would have been provided by LGWX and they work pretty closely together. It will remain to be seen. I think RATL has been gun-shy from the post-acquisition beating they took and as a result, has been beaten by Plat in this area. IMO, acquisitions of LGWX and LBMSY would have helped RATL and now only serve to stregthen PLAT. Don't run out and buy PLAT quite yet, btw. They have acquired close to 40 companies in 3 years and have built themselves almost totally on this strategy. I don't believe they will have their products functioning together for a very long time- however, they are a legitimate and serious threat for RATL.
