Rosie O'Donnell On MSNBC?
By Dirty Harry
November 6th, 2007

Not having watched MSNBC for three-years and only now returning to it because of my interest in the presidential election, I'm just starting to fully appreciate how thoroughly Olbermann-ized the network's become in my absence. With their anemic ratings slipping into oblivion, the entire network seems to have decided to wedge itself into the same niche that brought Olbermann out of the dust-bin: a liberal, 24/7 Bush-bashing, propaganda vehicle.

You might say,"Well, FOX News does the same thing with its right-wing slant," and you'd be right to a point, but when it comes to just the news, FOX plays it straight. MSNBC, on the other hand, doesn't. Just last week when the market dipped 300-points I heard the word "recession" used at least four-times within thirty-minutes with no mention of our nations two-quarters-in-a-row GDP growth of nearly 4% and a robust job market that had just created 166,000 new jobs. MSNBC seemed determined to portray an American economy already in, or on the brink of sliding into recession.

And now comes word that Rosie "The Truther" O'Donnell is in talks to host an MSNBC primetime show. This is beyond even Keith Olbermann and into the wild. This is a woman who thinks the entire American steel industry can't possibly exist because fire can't melt steel. Her views are of the kind that should be relegated to overnight AM radio, not the once prestigious NBC. I should also add she has an ugly personality and is one traffic jam away from collapsing into a nervous breakdown.

This is very bad move on MSNBC's part and it's impossible to see her show surviving any longer than MSNBC's ill-fated Phil Donahue show. Whatever appeal Rosie has to "The Truther" crowd will dissipate quickly because the only way to keep that crowd watching is to continually come up with wilder and wilder conspiracies which will only result in turning Rosie into more of a laughing-stock than she already is and eventually tire out even the craziest of her defenders.
