Is that really that bad? Used to be the Judge told a teenager, "go to jail or join up." If his Intelligence test is high enough, and the trouble is minor, why not? You don't want wimps in the Military.

How low do you want to go? We already dropped the intelligence standard twice in 18 months.

Eventually, UW, you are going to realize that reinstating the draft will never happen

Food for your dinner.

We have a maxed-out, war expeditionary force of 170,000 deployed overseas and our military leaders say they cannot maintain that deployed strength level beyond a few more months. That 170,000 comes from a total American population base of 300 million.
In contrast Israel currently has 168,000 deployed front-line military personnel from a population of 7 million. Israel knows they can sustain that force. Is the difference that Israel is not afraid to fire incompetent leaders?

Since 9/11 our military personnel strength has decreased. If the citizens of America are not willing to defend America, who will? It is time to ask, what uninspired military leadership issues are keeping folks from enlisting.

West Point graduates have exceptional access to senior army leadership. What uninspired military leadership issues drove a historical record of nearly 60% of the West Point Class of 2002 to recently resign en masse at their first discharge eligibility date after the completion of their 5 year commitment? Has West Point lost its national defense investment value?

We need a sea-change in our military leadership. We need a sea-change in our strategy. To get them, we need a sea-change in our priorities and only a sea-change in national leadership will accomplish that.

We have enough money. Our leaders have choices to make and America has to choose leaders willing to make the right choices. Adding a rifle squad to the US Army costs about one million dollars. In today's environment, would you rather have that rifle squad or build a Woodstock Museum?
