I noticed Adobe is discontinuing the development of it, although they will continue to sell and support it.

I worked with it when it was brand new, and contributed a lot to it's original development. Then, it was sold to Macromedia, which was then sold to Adobe. It's a neat tool that makes it fairly easy to create courseware that will run off CD's or DVD's or just directly off the web on a PC or a Mac, without having to have a masters in computer science. The courseware can feature animations, video, pictures, text and various types of user "interactions". It keeps track of where a student left off in a course, and can return them to exactly that place, "remembers" all the questions they've answered, etc.
