Fawn if you will Mark, but design, both functional and aesthetic, is part of my business. Before I make a radical change for a clients advertising, I make sure the demographics warrant it. If so, I proceed. IMHO, Apple is, in the current direction they're heading, beginning to focus on some very specific “demos”, i.e., youth oriented, price conscious individual users. Users who like fad colors similar to lower cost automobiles. That by itself is not wrong, but, for example: I'm sure not the only business user who has an office full of furniture that just doesn't happen to be color compatible with those kool, bubble gum colors (minor point that it is). I know the functionality will be just great for the iMac set, but for those of us who make a living using other external SCSI devices like $10,000. color printers, digital cameras, etc., the transition is going to be just one more reason to look toward the wintel solution whether I like it or not. I suppose, though, it will be a very nice bump for those who make the USB adaptors.
Hey, if I were in the business of selling Oakley sun glasses or K2 snow boards, I too, would be fawning over the damn things!!!!!!! <VBG>
But...I'm not. |
