National security is not the only thing! Cost, cost and cost! what is the profit margin for those airplanes? I don't know, but must by very high. China has the cheapest labor, including engineering labors.

China had one of their own, Yun-10, forced to go down the drain about 10 years ago. Because the then Head of Civil Flying Ministry -- Shen Tu (who later turned out (no kidding!) a spy bought by CIA) refused to buy the plane for Air China.
