I doubt that Hillary will be elected. Here's why:

1. The whiff/stench of scandal - Whitewater, the Rose Law Firm billings, the White House travel office, Hollywoodgate, the miraculous commodity trades, etc., etc., ad nauseum - will follow her wherever she goes. Huge negatives. I think her honesty will be the main issue in the campaign. The other Dem candidates are not bringing it up necause it is not really an issue during the race for the nomination but it will be front and center if she is selected.

2. Bill may well become an issue. He's a bimbo eruption away from being a huge liability. And his record and the role he might play in a Hillary White House will make a lot of people very nervous.

3. And, yes, her sexual orientation. A nasty thing, no doubt, and irrelevant but it will mean votes. A lot of people think she's a lesbian who won't come out of the closet. Rather than have an impact on her directly because of her orientation, it will add to the whiff of dishonesty that already trails behind her, adding a sense that she's hiding another aspect of who she is. If she is a lesbian, she would do well to come out of the closet now rather than be involuntarily outed during the Presidential race.

4. Her lack of simpatico. A complete lack of charm and the knack of being able to relate to people on a one-to-one basis, a quality responsible in large part for Bill's election. Nothing but nothing can cure this. When she tries, she fails. It will hurt enormously in the South, where these qualities are absolutely necessary.

5. Credibility on national security issues. While her record and history is that of a center left on most issues, her national security stance can be almost GOP-ish. Is she pandering to the red state voters or is her stance credible? Given the Clintonian penchant for triangulation and the sense of dishonesty which will dog her, a lot of voters will have a hard time finding her right wing national security position credible.

6. My wife, a center Dem, despises her, as do most of her friends. I'm finding that a lot of moderate Dem women can't abide her. It's an odd thing, maybe a local anomaly. A substantial and influential group which should be hers may not be.
