Looks like Cisco is happy to see its Active Directory contract with MSFT nearing an end as it has now announced that it will develop new plans to integrate better with NOVL's NDS...

Cisco, Novell find common
ground in directory space

As time runs out on a contract binding Cisco Systems
Inc. to the fortunes of Microsoft Corp.'s
yet-to-be-released Active Directory, Cisco is drafting
new blueprints to integrate its hardware and software
with Novell Inc.'s Novell Directory Services.

According to sources close to the company, Cisco
(Nasdaq:CSCO) plans to integrate NDS with its
networking products, including its policy-based
software, which uses the directory to allocate policies
to the networking infrastructure.
