Ted, The current, average price for premium in LA is near $2.70. Since it is an average, the Malibu station at $3 can't be too much of an anomaly.

That's better that what I originally said, "Premium is in the $2.70's." I guess I must be frequenting the expensive gas stations, and even then, I have not found a $3/gallon station. (Nor am I going to be Dumb and Dumber and waste gas just to see for myself whether Malibu has one. <G>)

Sometimes, Ten, I wonder who you are. <g>

The $2.70 is the average price. That means that there are prices lower and higher than $2.70. Given an average of $2.70, its not inconceivable that there are gas stations with prices as high as in the $2.90s.

Shall I thank Mr. Bush again?!

What for? Because he won't tax gas and SUVs like you want him to? I thought liberals were against "consumption taxes" because of its regressive nature.

Because he started an unnecessary war in Iraq. One of the byproducts of that war is high crude prices which translate into high gas prices at the pump.
