Hi Thom. SYMC will report 4/23/96. source: ZACKS You're right, they
have taken a beating lately. It seems their utility software sales
depends alot on sales of others software--Windows 95. When Windows 95
came out, retailers were buying alot of Symantec's utility programs
figuring that these would sell with Microsofts new software. Well, Win95 sales fell quite a bit short of expectations and retailers sent
back alot of Symantec's software because of this. SYMC said in Jan
that this problem would hurt them for the next 2 quarters (meaning
last quarter & the report in April). Because of this, earnings
estimates were cut from .31 EPS for the upcoming quarter, to .17 EPS.

So I guess you have 2 things to hope for: an upside surprise in
earnings (which is obvious) and a strong report from MSFT on 4/11.
If MSFT shows strength in their report, it may help SYMC alot.
