engineer, Yes, I'm somewhat new to AT&T, and very weak on it's history. My strength is almost 30 years in the semiconductor business with 10+ years devoted to communication design, process development, test, assembly
and lower/middle management. I've seen CEO's come and go.
My long term vision is Wireless (I'm way overloaded on AWE)
and I like fibre optics, the final winnner in broadband. IMO, wireless needs spun off and it looks it may happen. Broadband fiber will dominate B to B with comercial applications also. I believe the commercial appplication of
fiber has serious questions of profitability. The interactive potential across the t.v. or p.c, or whichever
rules has terrible cost to financial returns. Phones as
we know them today are history. The WCOM / Sprint destruction disapppointed me. I own neither, but to me it's
a sign of bad politics. Any contrarian views warmly appreciated as I view wireless and fiber as tomorroes winners.
