Go back to the work on amino acids that started in the 1980's. They were just beginning to understand their rather large role in maintaining health outside their role as building blocks of proteins. There were a number of authorities writing on these, including Eric Braverman who ran an investigative clinic, Erdmann and Chaitow.

It is possible it is alleged, and I have heard it from certain users, to balance cholesterol effectively with just amines and amino acids. And these type of therapies may have fewer side effects than many. I would advise however to read just what side effects there may be before assuming there are none at all.
