It is a messy discussion that hasn't been helped by never really being fully addressed by the legislators who have pawned their duties off to activist courts IMO.

It's a messy subject with messy borders that will never be settled to everyone's satisfaction. To start with, Fetus's mature at different rates.

What I thought was "rough" rule that was accepted now was that third trimester babies were babies. First weren't, and second were arguable. The criteria that fits my thinking is viability outside of the womb, without having to go to extensive measures. In other words, if the fetus can be born, wrapped in a blanket, and put in a crib, and is still alive an hour later, it's a baby.

I think the above has been pretty well accepted around the country.

I am well aware that there are those here who feel that it's a human once the sperm hits the egg. We could argue this forever and never settle anything.
